Module 7: Episode 3 - Sitting at the River’s Edge

Embodied Mindfulness Meditation

with Dina Asher Kusnir

Sitting at the river’s edge

This practice reminds us that beneath the ever-changing weather of our inner and outer worlds lies our precious, divine presence—the eternal awareness that sits peacefully by the river of life, blessing everything that flows.

This gentle meditation teaching offers a metaphor for spiritual practice: we are pure awareness sitting by the riverbank of our life's experiences. We learn to position ourselves as the loving witness who observes everything with acceptance and care.

Key Practice: Sitting in simple awareness, we imagine ourselves by a gently flowing river where all our experiences—past memories, present sensations, future concerns—become the water that flows past us. We are not the water; we are the divine awareness that sits peacefully on the bank, blessing the flow of our life.

Like a mother watching over her child, this awareness ensures our safety while allowing all experiences to flow naturally.

The Gift of Peace: When we rest in this understanding, we discover that peace doesn't come from controlling our experiences but from recognizing our true nature as the unchanging presence that witnesses all change. Every moment brings new "water" in the river of our consciousness, and we can receive it all as gifts from the beyond.
