Embodied Mindfulness Meditation

Module 13: Episode 7 - Home

Dina Asher Kusnir

This meditation begins with gentle awareness through movement, a way of listening to the body and awakening awareness. The practice invites slow, simple movements with focus on the sit bones while sitting at the edge of a chair.

The sitting meditation explore home as a quality of being you can return to here, in the body, right now. The feet, sit bones, spine, breath, and heart become anchors for returning home to rest. Any sensation, tiredness, pain, emotion, or thought that arises is welcomed as part of the home and held with kindness.

We return to the body as the place where awareness lands, the breath cleanses, the Earth supports, the body as a sacred sanctuary of awareness.

The indwelling presence across traditions is known as Shekhinah in Hebrew ("the one who dwells within"), the Holy Spirit in Christianity, the Buddha nature in Buddhism, the Great Spirit in shamanic tradition — describing the body as a Mishkan, a temple, holding a "drop" of that greater spirit. The word holy, comes from wholeness; coming home is coming back into wholeness.

We don't need to leave this body to be home. It's here, and now.

Spiritual life begins where we are most ordinary: breathing, sensing, and resting in the embrace of Earth.
